Ingredients for Hutterite beans recipe
- 2 cups beans
- 2 oz bacon
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 large onion
- 4 medium carrots
- 6 stalks celery
- 2 cups water
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 tbsp parsley or coriander or dill, chopped fresh!
Directions for Hutterite beans recipe
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Take a small skillet and cook your bacon, cutting it into one-inch pieces once it is finished. Cook your bacon on medium heat, not too high or too low.
Step 2: Sautee your onions and carrots in 1 tbsp olive oil for about 3 minutes. Add the celery, and cook for another 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Step 3: In a large pot mix together the beans, water, and the saucy veggie mix that you just created. Add salt to taste. Make sure the Hutterite beans mixture is covered with water.
Step 4: Cover the pot and cook Hutterite beans on medium heat for 30 minutes or until beans are tender. I like to add 1 tsp of salt to mine just so that everything tastes good! 🙂

Step 6: After the beans have cooled a bit, add your bread crumb mixture to the beans and mix well.
